AAdvantage® programme Terms

Your Scotiabank / AAdvantage VISA/MasterCard account allows you to earn up to a maximum of 200,000 American Airlines AAdvantage®◊ miles each calendar year based on the Qualifying Net Purchases made by you and your Designated Cardholders.

No AAdvantage miles will be awarded on any Qualifying Net Purchases made beyond the 200,000 yearly amount. All AAdvantage miles will be credited to the Principal Cardholder and/or the Secondary Cardholder's (if applicable) American Airlines AAdvantage account(s) as designated by you. Secondary Cardholders will only receive AAdvantage miles that accrue based on their own expenditures. All AAdvantage miles awarded based on other Designated Cardholder's expenditures will accrue to the Principal Cardholder only. AAdvantage miles cannot be awarded in the name of a Business or Corporation. In the event that you do not have an American Airlines AAdvantage account, we will open an account in the name of the Principal Cardholder. Awarding of AAdvantage miles is subject to the Principal Cardholder and/or the Secondary Cardholder's account(s) (if applicable) being in good standing.

Calculation of your AAdvantage miles

Each month, the designated American Airlines AAdvantage account(s) will be credited with AAdvantage miles equivalent to the U.S. dollar value of Qualifying Net Purchases posted to the Cardholder Monthly Statements less the U.S. dollar value of Purchases credited to your account on the same Cardholder Monthly Statements. Qualifying Net Purchases will be rounded to the nearest dollar. AAdvantage miles will not be awarded for cash advances, finance charges, insurance premiums (if applicable), annual fees or other fees, credits, disputed transactions, fraudulent transactions and penalties. "Qualifying Net Purchases" means the retail Purchases made by you and your Designated Cardholders on the Scotiabank AAdvantage VISA/MasterCard account excluding balance transfers, cash advances, late fees, annual fees, interest or other finance charges, insurance premiums (if applicable) and other substantially similar fees or charges reduced by credits relating to such billings for refunds, merchandise returns and disputed charges.

If Purchases credited exceed Purchases posted to a Cardholder Monthly Statement, no AAdvantage miles will be credited to your AAdvantage account. The excess Purchase credits will be subtracted from Purchases posted to subsequent statement(s) for the purpose of determining the AAdvantage miles to be credited to your AAdvantage account. "Purchase credit(s)" refers to purchase transactions posted to your account that are subsequently reversed.

Depending on the Scotiabank VISA/MasterCard Account currency, Scotiabank may apply a conversion rate as determined by us from time to time to convert Purchases and Purchase credits to U.S. dollars for the purpose of arriving at the AAdvantage miles to be credited. Conversion to U.S. dollars will be done as at the date of billing.
