WARNING: Fraudulent telephone calls purporting to be from the TCI Financial Services Commission

PROVIDENCIALES, Turks and Caicos Islands; Tuesday, July 14, 2026 - The Turks and Caicos Islands Financial Services Commission (FSC) has received reports of fraudulent telephone calls in which callers falsely claim to represent the Commission. These perpetrators are reportedly using caller ID that displays in what appears to be an official Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police (RTCIPF) or other Turks and Caicos Islands Government logos to appear legitimate.

Please be advised:

o   The FSC will not call members of the public or businesses to request personal banking details, account passwords, PINs, transfers, or payments. The FSC does not ask for confidential financial information by telephone.

o   Any call requesting your personal, business, or banking details and claiming to be from the FSC is fraudulent. Do not provide any information, and do not follow instructions to transfer money or disclose account credentials.

What to do if you receive a suspicious call

  1. Hang up immediately. Do not be pressured into providing information or makingpayments.
  2. Do not call a number provided by the caller. Use only official contact details found on the FSC’s website or your financial institution’s published channels.
  3. Contact your bank or financial institution immediately and inform them of the call.  Ask them to monitor your accounts and, if necessary, freeze or change access details.
  4. Collect evidence: note the time and date of the call, the number displayed on your phone, and the content of the call, and take screenshots if your device allows.
  5. Report the incident to:      
    • Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force — report suspected impersonation or fraud on +1 649 941 8067 or +1 649 941 5891.
    • Turks and Caicos Islands Financial Services Commission — report attempts to impersonate the FSC or any regulatory concerns by telephone on +1 649 946 5314 ext. 5061 or by email to fsc@tcifsc.tc.
    • If you have already shared account details or transferred funds, contact your bank immediately and report the matter to the Police without delay.

Guidance to protect yourself

  • Never disclose passwords, PINs, full account numbers, one-time passcodes (OTPs) or internet banking credentials to anyone claiming to be from the FSC.
  • Be cautious of caller ID spoofing: fraudulent callers can make their displayed number look official. Caller ID alone is not proof of authenticity.
  • Verify suspicious approaches using known, official contact details before taking any action.

The Financial Services Commission is actively investigating these reports and is working with the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force and other authorities to address this matter. We urge all residents and businesses in the Turks and Caicos Islands to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious contact promptly.
